The Coastal
Institute is engaged in a variety of research and outreach endeavors
to advance its mission. Click here

One theme
is particularly important to the Institute:
Assessing
Change in Coastal Ecosystems, and its Impact to Society
The Institute
will focus many of its research and outreach activities on this
theme over the next few years. Aspects of importance to us include:
- What are
reliable indicators of environmental, economic, and social change
in coastal ecosystems and their watersheds?
- How can
we effectively monitor change? What is normal variation and
what is not? How do human activities affect the rate and trajectory
of change?
- How can
we effectively communication measures of change to scientists,
decision-makers, and the public?
