Description:

Abstract:

Eelgrass beds in Quonochontaug Pond were delineated from groundtruthed sidescan sonar records collected in August 2005 at 1:5,000 scale. Groundtruthing by underwater video, grab samples and sediment profile images were used in the analysis. Polygons were drawn over the sidescan sonar backscatter mosaic in ArcMap 9.1. Polygons were then overlayed onto 2004 color orthophotos from RIGIS using ArcMap. The extent shoreline edge and shallow sandflat eelgrass beds were adjusted using this photography.

Purpose: To map the eelgrass beds in Quonochontaug Pond.
