Orthophotography, prints, and transparencies of Narragansett Bay were collected by James W. Sewall Co on August 5th, 2006. All three formats were used for interpretation of eelgrass beds. Initial interpretations were done and delineated by heads up digitizing on the Sewall orthophotography (1:12000 scale and 0.5m pixel resolution). These delineations were taken into the field and ground truthed using a Trimble GeoXH and gps enabled tablet pc. Deep water edges of eelgrass beds were determined using underwater video equipment, fathometer signals, boat observations using a view scope, and in some instances, divers. Once determined, the original polygon was then re-digitized in the field using the GPS enabled tablet pc or back in the lab using Trimble GeoXH data. Ground-truthing was completed in the summer of 2007.
