Ronan graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland in 2000 with a degree in Biological Sciences. Since then he has also completed a Master's degree in Tropical Coastal Management at the University of Newcastle. Ronan has been involved in creating projects in marine protected areas in the Philippines and Tobago, and has spent the last few years working on a European Union-funded project dealing with Integrated Coastal Zone Management in a transnational European context. Ronan's main topic of interest is the management of Marine Protected Areas, especially those in tropical regions.
