Rob Griffin
Environmental and Natural Resource Economics
vita
Rob's research interests are focused on the interaction of the economy and coastal and marine environments. Having grown up on the shore of Narragansett Bay and the Northwest Atlantic, the decision to focus on topics that relate to the improvement of these ecosystems and the welfare of the adjacent populations was obvious. Rob received a B.A. in Economics and an M.S. in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from URI, and coincident to joining the IGERT program, enrolled for his Ph.D. in the ENRE program at URI. His master's thesis and other research under Dr. Christopher Anderson has focused primarily on economic features of fisheries management. During his graduate school career, Rob was also lucky enough to spend a summer working at the World Wildlife Fund, doing economic research on developing coastal economies and issues of sustainability and social welfare in these economies.
As someone who enjoys coastal living maybe too much, Rob has also spent close to a decade working in surf-rescue. He is a PADI certified open water diver, and spends any free time in, on, or under the water.
