The purpose of this requirement is to ensure that CIIP Fellows have solid exposure to advanced topics in both the natural and social sciences.
Because each student's program of studies is carefully crafted under the tutelage of the major professor, we are highly supportive of choosing classes that will complement the student's research focus. Many of the excellent courses in the Departments of Marine Affairs (MAF) and Environmental and Natural Resource Economics (ENRE) address social science aspects of coastal management. Many of the courses offered at GSO, Natural Resources Science (NRS), Geosciences (GEO), and Fisheries (FAVS) cover themes in ecoyste management.
If you are not certain if a course will meet the CIIP requirement, ask us. Also discuss this with your fellow CIIP Fellows. Students usually have the most reliable reviews of course quality.
