Leadership Week

A Coastal Institute IGERT Project Class
Intersession 2008 (January 14 - January 19)
3 credits of lecture and lab

Meeting Times and Locations:
Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
Saturday, 8:30 am to 1 pm
at South Kingstown Land Trust Barn, Matunuck
Monday evening dinner (6 to 9 pm) with Dr. Agnes Doody at the Celestial Cafe, Exeter

Other preparation
:
- Be prepared to change into nice clothing during the afternoon break on Monday, January 14 (for evening event at Celestial Cafe). We have to change early because another group is coming into the Barn at 5 pm.
- Wear comfortable clothing and bring/wear outdoor shoes and outerwear Monday through Friday.
- Saturday clothing should be professional dress.
- You will be engaged with a project from Friday, Jan. 18 at 9 am until Saturday Jan. 19 at 1 pm, inclusive, so don't book anything for that period. Be sure to bring anything you might want if you wind up staying at work through the night. There are showers at the Barn and items such as a sleeping bag, a toothbrush, etc. might be a good idea just to be prepared for any eventuality.
- Bring a laptop and your books to class each day.

Identification and presentation of possible strategies for communicating potential climate change impacts on Rhode Island Salt Ponds with the general public and government agencies

Trainees will identify strategies, justify their selection, describe what each would entail, present findings to CIIP community and engage in a Q&A session with guests, followed by lunch
Final Assignment - PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS DOCUMENT UNTIL JUDITH AND CHERYL ASK YOU TO DO SO. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ADHERE TO THE TIMING OF THIS EXERCISE AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION.

At the conclusion of the week each student is required to post to the CIIP blog summarizing his/her assessment of the week and the final exercise as it applies to:
1) individual goals, and
2) the overall CIIP goals.
