Coastal Institute IGERT Project (CIIP)

Assessment Tools and Documents

Are we there yet?
Are we succeeding?
Are CIIP trainees advancing
faster than we anticipated?
Do we need to shift direction?

These are basic questions we need to ask and answer. To do so requires a clear understanding of where we are going and articulation of benchmark events, skills, or achievements that reflect our progress getting there.

The TrueOutcomes web portfolio will be used to track our progress through the CIIP program. We are being led down the path of assessment by our expert external evaluators Page Nelson and Glenn Page of the firm Working InConcert in Berkeley California.

We have multiple scales and mutiple methods of assessment -- self-reflection, peer assessment, faculty peer assessment, and mentor-student/student-mentor evaluation. CIIP is a team enterprise. We are in this together, and together we can make this work.

The links and documents below are the basis of our assessment process.

Note -- all work products and self- or partner-assessments will be made available to Working InConcert for their exclusive use as the external assessment group for the CIIP. Any summation of assessment materials produced by them will be in aggregate form only (individual identity not revealed) for reporting purposes to NSF or any affiliate or similar agency to which there might be an assessment reporting need for continuance of or application for new funding. In addition, aggregate data might be reported to appropriate bodies at URI, NEASC or the RIBGHE.
